1. Dynamic Lock
Dynamic Lock feature in Windows 10 when turned on, will automatically lock your system whenever you walk away from your work-desk. Basically, the feature uses Bluetooth connection with your phone to determine if you are near it or not. Once your phone is out of the range when you walk away, your system will automatically lock down. You can enable this feature by going to Settings -> Accounts -> Sign-in Option and turning on the “Dynamic Lock” feature. Once you enable this feature, you will have to pair your smartphone to your Windows PC.
2. Show file extensions in File Explorer
In Windows10 file explorer, file extensions are hidden by default, which sometime makes difficult for people who need to look for specific types of files, like HTM and HTMLs. To see file extensions in File Explorer, do the following:

2. In the window that pops up, click the View tab.
3. Uncheck the box that says Hide extensions for known file types. Click Apply, and OK. You should now see file extensions for all files in the File Explorer.
You can also use the File Explorer Options menu to choose to show empty drives, hidden files and folders, and more.
3. Open items on your Taskbar with keyboard shortcuts
If you have pinned programs to your task bar at the bottom of your
screen to create a shortcut, you do not have to click the icons to open
them. Instead, use the keyboard shortcut Windows key + [Number key],
with the number key corresponding to the position of the program on the
Taskbar. For example, Windows key + 3 will open the third item on the
Taskbar.
This is especially useful if you're typing furiously
and don't want to lift your fingers from the keyboard. It may feel more
natural to reach for the Windows key.

6. Turn on Night Light
Another small but nifty addition to Windows 10 is a feature called Night
Light. What this feature does is that it removes all the blue light
from your screen which is a big reason behind why we remain awake late
at night. If you work on your laptop in the night and don’t want it to
affect your sleeping habits, you need to turn this feature on. You can
either manually enable this feature whenever you want to or you can
schedule Night Light which will enable this feature at a specific time
of day. To enable Night Light, go to Settings -> System -> Display, and turn on the toggle next to Night Light. You can also configure the intensity of Night Light and schedule its time by clicking on the “Night light settings”
7. Record your Screen
Windows 10 allows you to record your screen without any external app. In fact, not only you can record video but also both system and mic audio. The feature is called “Game Capture” however it works with any app that you are using. All a user needs to do is hit the “Windows+G” keyboard shortcut and a recording menu will open. Here you can set your preferences and then hit the record button to start your recording. While this tool is not really feature rich, it definitely is easy to use, and being available natively makes it one of the best tools for capturing and sharing a small recording of your Windows PC.
8. Disable unwanted Startup Program
Sometimes due to some unwanted startup program you are facing issues with the performance of your PC. Disabling the startup programs simply by closing, will not work because of the programs that run as soon as you switch on your PC. To disable them permanently click on Start –> Type Startup Apps –> and disable the ones that are not important to you. DO NOT disable system apps.
9. Make Google to Default Search
Bing is the default search engine for Microsoft Edge and the Windows 10 search bar. And it’s hard to get away from Microsoft’s search engine. However, despite improvements and Microsoft’s best efforts to force Bing upon Windows users, Google will always reign supreme. While totally removing Bing from Windows 10 is impossible, you can kick it out of Edge and clumsily replace it in the Windows 10 search bar.
Remove Bing from Microsoft Edge
- Open Edge and select the ellipsis on the right,
- Go to Settings, then select Advanced Settings
- Under “Search in the address bar” change the default option to Add New.
- Here, you’ll see a list of available search engines.
- If the list is empty (as it tends to be), navigate to your browser of choice and repeat the process.
- You should now see it listed as an available provider
Remove Bing from the Windows 10 search bar:
Open Chrome and download “Bing2Google” from the Chrome App Store. Install it Now, when you perform a Windows 10 search, Chrome will boot up and take you through to a Google search. Thankfully, you don’t lose any standard Cortana or device search functions by doing this, either
